About the VCRHM

The Virginia Consortium on the Rhetoric of Health and Medicine (VCRHM) is a collaboration of scholars in the rhetoric of health and medicine in Virginia. We host an annual colloquium and pursue collaborative projects that allow researchers to connect and pursue research across the Commonwealth.

About the VCRHM

The Virginia Consortium on the Rhetoric of Health and Medicine (VCRHM) began in 2017 as a collaboration of scholars across Virginia. The purpose of VCRHM is to: connect Virginia institutions and scholars working in RHM; offer opportunities for connection and collaboration, especially for graduate and undergraduate students; and facilitate collaborative research that advances knowledge and improves health outcomes in Virginia and surrounding communities. Our work primarily happens at our annual colloquium, the Virginia Colloquium on the Rhetoric of Health and Medicine, and through collaborative projects that run annually.

2020 Colloquium: June 24-26, 2020

The 2020 colloquium will be held at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA, on June 24-26, 2020. This colloquium will feature a workshop of papers on rhetorical approaches to the opioid crisis in Virginia. If you are interested in learning more about or participating in this research, please contact us.

Past Colloquia and Media
The first Colloquium took place on George Mason University's Fairfax campus on Saturday, June 9, 2018, and our second meeting took place at James Madison University on April 18 and 19, 2019. Read about our annual colloquia recaps, related events, and media here.
